Whysper wrote:Just back from the Rock, Ribs and Ridges Festival in New Jersey. A big Hell Yeah! for bringing Molly Hatchett back to Moondance, they still blow the audience away. Another I want to keep plugging in here till they at least get a look from TPTB, SwampDaWamp! Check 'em out on youtube. I highly recommend 'Dance'. They're a great band. Also saw Dickey Betts again and that is always a pleasure. Another for MDJ to consider along with The Artimus Pyle Band. Art was the drummer with Skynyrd when the plane went down, crawled on his hands and knees to survival and I swear he does a better Skynyrd set than the Skynyrd of today. Have fun Jammers, I'll be thinkin' of y'all and keepin' out an eye for the live MDJ web cam!

sorry I missed it - sounds like you guys had a blast ! Loved that Sol had a picture of me there - she posted some pics with me sitting in a chair .. at the food table lol ! There's a web cam ? I can wave to you ??? Have to find this !! And I second that about SwampDaWamp - not only awesome but a bunch of great down to earth friendly guys and you can never go wrong with Artimus Pyle - really get the audience going.... and Dickey... he's a legend and a pleasure to watch... going to miss your smiling face Whysper

Night Ranger is now up at viewtopic.php?f=35&t=1376.

I enjoyed that one, they have been one of my favorites since I saw them in junior high (1st concert ever!).
The music brought me to Moondance Jam. The people bring me back.

1976?, First concert - Tickets were $5.50 and 7.50 I believe. Nazareth(Hair of the Dog) and REO(You Get What You Play For) - After many, many concerts still one of my favorites.

1979?, Craziest fans - The Ramones opened, but were run off stage after about four songs because the crowd wanted Foreigner RIGHT NOW.

Mid eighties, Strangest and closest to the artist - During the St. Paul winter carnival I stood at Greg Allman's feet with him on keyboards during a show in the Civic Center auditorium as thousands of people passed through mostly oblivious to who was performing.

Early eighties, Most intense performance - Iggy Pop at First Avenue, he had fire in his eyes and danced like a demon.

1977?, Kick myself in the #u*k%n as# - I remember standing in the hallway at high school with my buddies talking about going to the Zepplin concert, we didn't go. I'm not sure how that happened.

2009?, Pleasant surprise - Took my son and his two cousins to see Avenged Sevenfold, Buckcherry and Papa Roach in Mankato. My nineteen year old has excellent taste in rock and loves Moondance Jam.

When you go to a rock and roll show you just never know what you might see.

1st Concert: 1975 or 76 Queen, tickets were $6.50
Craziest Fans: Same Queen concert...this one guy was stoned and set a girls hair on fire then just sat and watched it burn. He seemed shocked that he got his a$$ kicked.
Strangest & Closest to the Artist: Jackyl playing at a bar here in Minot...I was about 6" from Jessie James Dupree while he was playing his chainsaw...a bit to close!
Most Intense Performance: Probably KISS in 1977 in San Antonio.
I Kick Myself: For not seeing Pink Floyd when I had the chance!
Pleasant Surprize: Moody Blues at Moondance, I wasn't expecting much...wow was I wrong!

I know a lot of you hang around Bemidji, up here working and looking for a good bar and grill. Any suggestions?

I think it's fun to read first concerts, craziest, strangest, most intense, etc. Saw Hairball the first time ever at Moondance the second year they were there. They were such a fun band to watch, see and hear. I love to see them whenever I can. I went to a Hairball concert here in my hometown at Elko Speedway not too long ago. Some drunk guy decided to use my friend Angie's head as a resting spot while he using the :wootrock: sign. Didn't go too well in Angie's eyes. He proceeded to fall into her and she says, "It this dude does this one more time, I'm done!" This guy didn't get the hint. She pushes him and says, "stay back, would ya". He looks at me and tells me to hold his drink, which was in his right hand -- 'cuz he's thinking he's going to punch her with his right. I'm laughing so hard, going "seriously"! Angie, being who she is, takes his left thumb and does this twist of the arm and such and holds him there until security comes. Security says, "do you need any help" and we all go "nope"! Security ushers him out. Probably one of the funniest music moments I've ever had.

This weekend at Ribfest was such a blast! :D It was so nice to party with the Rev's, Hippy, Toots, Serrebaby, Lisa, Howler, Ty guy, ty gal, and even more of Camp Howler.

But while I was partying I brought this idea up to the two members of RTT who will be at Moondance. Wish we had all of RTT there but sounds like it's not going to happen this year. Deacon luv you Buddy! But I'm going to throw this out there and see what people think. Nothing can replace a RTT show as they are the best! But how about one of the nights after the shows are done at Camp Hippy have a talent or untalent showcase. Which ever case it may be  In my case it would be no talent but we do have a lot of Jammers with a lot of talent. What do people think?

My craziest concert was 10/17/87 at Richard Marx. I got trampled. Yup, been to many concerts and many Moondances and I get trampled at Richard Marx. BTW, I'm not like some of you groovies, I cannot remember the details of dates, etc, so much.... I just remember this was the night that Baby Jessica finally got saved from the well...you can find everything on the 'net :D

Big Sexy Slim Jim, I think that's a groovy idea, kind of a MDJ Has Got Talent... who'll be the "judges"? Crowd favorites? or...?

Where is everybody!
raise your hand if you are "here"

:devdogbang: Here!!

Side note:
If anyone is going to see the Ted Nugent concert tonight in Mankato....it has been moved inside to the Verizon Center as the weather for tonight looks stormy. $25 gets you in... and the concert starts at 7:30pm instead of 7:00pm.

The perfect warm up for MDJ!!!!
