For me, it's about perspective. Maybe it's having lived in the vicinity of the Jam up here in the north woods my whole life, where not a whole lot goes on. In the early 90's, if someone told me there would be a music festival up here less than an hour from my house at a riding stable in the woods that would bring bands like ZZ Top, Def Leppard and KISS and tens of thousands of people to see them, I would've suggested they have their head checked. Like Field Of Dreams, "if you build it, they will come." What it's done for the area, the local economies, the hype and excitement, watching it grow. There's a very humble perspective and appreciation. I am partial to it, like a child. There's no 'drinking the Kool Aid' or being blind to the health of the lineup each year. Most years it's our straight-A honor student and a couple times it's been the red-headed stepchild, but a lot of us will still be here in full support, backing it's successes and rallying behind it 100%, selflessly, and keying on the positives because it's meant so much over the years.

Cheers!
Doug

I hear ya. Being a life-long resident of Walker, minus the 20 years I was in the Navy, it's like a dream that Moondance has grown the way it has. Walker has always been a sleepy little town of about 1,000 people...give or take a few. Bill and Kathy had a dream and they not only brought bands and people to Walker, they put Walker on the map! Some years, I'm more excited than others, with the bands they sign. But, rest assured, it's ALWAYS a great time. I don't camp (since I only live 2 miles from the Jam), but I still get excited when I see the campers heading thru town to the Jam. When the signs are set up along Hwy 371 and 200, announcing the upcoming Moondance Jam and traffic may be delayed.....man, that's awesome! The town has an electric feel to it....Moondance is on the way!!
Thank you Kathy for bringing us 20 years of music and fun times.

Another well said....man you guys are too kind and are why the Jam's are successful!!!! Hats off to all of you!

From the first tribute band on Wednesday(by the way I believe Comfortably Pink is the Floyd cover band, whoever asked earlier) to Heart on Saturday I will enjoy being at Moondance and listening to the music. Two years ago people were complaining about Buckcherry, all I can say is good thing Sammy followed them because nobody else would have been able to keep up. Never heard of Candlebox or Cracker before last year, enjoyed them both. The Smithereens 2 years ago were a highlight, when they broke into The Who it was great. You never know what you will get, but we will enjoy it. Couple of good newer bands(Hinder, Three Days Grace), some great classic rock(Nightranger, GFR, Don Felder), and then end it with Kid Rock(supposed to be great live), rock and roll Hall of Famer John Fogerty, and Heart. If you only want certain bands then start your own fest and see how that goes. Complain all you want, won't change anything and you will still have fun.(even if you try not to)

Wow Gopher Boy you said exactly what I was thinking. I am not thrilled with 100 percent of the line up every year and then I am pleasantly surprised. The ones that I am so pumped to see sometimes disappointed...i.e. Allman Brothers. Jam is Jam and you have to try really hard to not have fun. If it't a band you are not interested in, then enjoy the fun the campsites have to offer. Sure wish I had time to experience that part of Jam but I never get too. I think the line-up is pretty fab and this year I WILL WATCH Felder...didn't get to last year and was totally bummed from all the comments people made, Rock on Jammers....it won't be long now. And Happy Graffetti page Birthday to one of my best FB friends LISA! ;)

Well I see it has been interesting on here over the last few days. Love the passion (good and bad). I went to Moondance 13 years ago for the first time(for the bands - been to many many festivals. picked it because it had a good line up) and fell in love with the atmosphere of Moondance. I get my fill of bands over the year every year but will always be going to Moondance because of the people that attend. They are the best! Someone posted that all outdoor festivals have great campers and attendees and I kind of agree but nothing compares to the people at Moondance. Love the Moondance virgins (first time at Moondance). I really have never met anyone that has not come back the next year after their first time. If you are on this site and lurking and are on the fence about going....can't guarantee a good time but the odds are stacked heavily in your favor.
Well I never post (only lurk) but take it from someone who has had Moondance ticket #1 for many years.....welcome to the party if you are coming for the first time and welcome back those who are returning.....and for those who have decided to skip it this year, good luck to you...I mean it....PM me if ya found something as good and fun as Moondance...... as long as that fun does not fall on the same weekend as Moondance, you may see me there!
Thanks for listening

Well, Blonde, if you get a break (yea, right lol) stop over to T1 (we are close to an entrance & I chatted with you a little bit last year on Sunday when everyone was pulling out, think you were sitting on a carpet, or something, right by our campsite) and have a beer (or drink, or burger, or whatever) with us. Might be hit & miss if we are there, but I'd love to chat with you again!!!

Philly, you need to lurk less & post more! :D

Hung out with the Howlers tonight for Lisa's birthday celebration. Had a great time. TyGal was getting tired (been up since 3:45 am) so we came home so she can get some rest. Now as for me I'm heading off to see HAIRBALL at the HUB!!

Home from Hairball. Had fun for the most part. I was basically 2nd row from the front. Stood behind a couple short women thinking it would be a safe spot for me. Apparently one of the ladies wasn't content with staying in her spot the whole night. Sometimes she was in front of me, sometimes beside me. The whole time she'd have her arms waving in front of my face and nudging into me the whole night. For the AC/DC set some bigger guy took her spot. She yelled at him calling him names. He then let her up front next to him and about 6 seconds later she steps back to the 2nd row again where I was and starts yelling at the bigger guy again. It was quite annoying!! I got a couple showers of beer from people behind me too. Dang drunks.
