Thank You all so very kindly for the well wishes and prayers. This crap will take me a few months to shake and I feel that I will be fine when it is all done. I still plan to be at Moondance with all of you in July, maybe I just won't drink so dang much and I will likely be spooled down a bit.

Thank all of you again.

Out, Paddy

Hang in their my friend. Glad to hear you're on the mend. Good things take a long time.

Doug wrote:Good take on the 'texted' situation. Bastardized is a good way to put it, as are many other words. Funny this came up because on FB yesterday I was bantering with Lisa and another friend of ours on certain grammar problems and misuse of words today; where vs. were vs. we're, they're vs. there vs. their, etc. There's a handful of words that seems to be ever increasingly interchanged. Makes me think I should look into substitute teaching, infiltrate the public school system for the sole purpose of righting this ship and pounding the proper use of these words into those little skulls of mush. I had a cousin post on FB once that he had a "soar" throat. It was so incredibly hard not to comment, something like "so how high did it get? Did you catch a good thermal?", but I kept myself in check. Not sure if it's just me, but it seems so much worse in just the last couple years, epidemic almost.

Cheers!

this is the danger of relying on spell check. Words that are spelled correctly, but aren't the word you really want to use. They're, their and there has been a problem since day one of the english language. As much as it bothers me, I'm also guilty of grabbing the wrong one from time to time. Another pet peeve of mine is then and than. I usually cuss at that one so long I've finished a post and don't remember what it was about, except(not accept) I remember they used the wrong one.

People carry on a conversation never thinking about which version they're using, because they all sound the same in their mind. We now think of texting as just another conversation and as long as what we type sounds right in our(not are) mind. We let it go as long as it passes spell check. Heaven help us if you have auto-intuitive on, then you get much more entertaining grammatical errors.

Not only that, but people who type... "phonetically". IT'S "YOU ARE" NOT U R!!!!!!I'm an absolutely lousy typist and I still type words out fully. I even see that crap in supposedly professional e-mail at times now where they had to ignore or override the spell checker.

haha, the thing I struggle with is using shortened words in texts or even on FB, but then being at work and putting together a letter or something official and reviewing it to find I have a punch of crap in it. But it makes me laugh, too. :D :D

Time for some Tesla!
