Everybody has an opinion, including me, but Fogerty not in the same league, as the others you referenced Please   , but if you are referencing that Fogerty is not in the same league, because he is by far a superior performer, and prolific successful song writer, who fronted one of the most successful and loved American Bands in American music history (Creedance Clearwater Revival) and has had a very successful solo carrer, then those bands you listed you would be correct.

Easily in the same league with those you listed, MDJ is awesome no matter, but Fogerty will be great and I can't wait!

Gotta agree with you on that one. I think Ozzy, Aerosmith, AC/DC, and Springsteen will always be a pipedream. Not taking away anything from John Fogerty as he is certainly a rock & roll hall of famer, but "Headlining" is a definite reach. As I stated in another post; Brand name "headliners" do NOT wait until 4-1/2 months out to sign. For example, Kid Rock signed around November 11th, 2011 - That was 4-1/2 months ago. Tour managers of big time acts generally have their sh&% together better than that. Remember 2008 when Crosby Stills & Nash headlined? Sammy Hagar played the 7pm slot, with Boz Scaggs (when you think rock, you think Boz Scaggs- Bwaha, ha, ha) on at 9pm followed by Crosby Stills & Nash - NO Sh&#!! How do you follow Sammy with that? You don't, as realized by many "Jammers" going back to their campsites (or asleep in their chairs) after Sammy finished. I actually felt sorry for "The Boz". I think this may be the last year I actually buy my tickets in advance and put in for vacation to attend MDJ. If MDJ comes up with somone worth seeing then I will just snap a ticket up off of craigs list (about $35 for a day pass) and go to see that act. My (sober) wife will drive us 70 miles back home, and we'll just do something else the next day if there is no one worth seeing at MDJ the following day. Cash is king; We have it, and MDJ wants it..... MDJ may still have me as a patron, however, I just won't blindly commit to a entire week any longer.

If I buy your ticket will you go and complain somewhere else, I'm sick of hearing how you have money to spend, how moondance doesn't cater to you, and you don't have 10 weeks of vacation. You sir, are why many people don't come here anymore, stop b#tching and look for the good, or just go away. Ughh every year it gets worse, no one forces you to go to Moondance, but you force us to listen to the never ending dribble of complaints. Take your so called money and spend it on something that wont cause you to complain, doubt that will happen. You prove to me with every post, that every silver lining has a touch of grey.

Hi Lisa, Bart, Pink, Ian, Chagen, Chris, OR, and Whysper, sorry for getting out of my new Daoist life for a minute but I had to say something. Whysper your more than welcome to hang out with us at Moondance, I'm bringing a couch and plan on sitting on it all four days, there's room for you and your stories next to me. Lisa I'm still bartending Saturday, and I have a stump picked out for. Ian still have the bunk in the camper if you need it for a night, that goes for you too Chris(yes you are coming) Chagen we need to play pool soon, OR the hockey bets are coming. Pinky I''m having a bulldog with you this year. Bart we'll drink at Rock USA

Drinking with Bart sounds fun, jealous you get to hit that fest, too. Bet you and the MISSUS will have a blast.

If I remember it correctly, CSN had signed as the headliner before they signed Sammy, and CSN dictated the shift to 7:00 for Sammy because they didn't want to follow him. I actually felt sorry for Boz as well because his set was sacrificed for the greater good. But it wasn't the Moondance brain wizards on that one.

Spot on, Razz.

If something looks a little goofy, like vertically listing a 9:00 band on top, then 11:00, then 7:00 and 5:00 OR having a 7:00 listed side by side with a 9:00 instead of a vertical list, there is usually some unusual circumstances and/or contractual agreement that dictates it.

I have to say that seeing Sammy on a 7:00 sunny summer evening stage with 40 Jammers and Wabo fans in the bleachers behind him was one of the coolest Moondance momments ever. Right on par with Uncle Ted going on with blood red clouds in the west and ripping up the stage through a lightning/rain storm and settling things down with "Fred Bear", KISS blowing the place up with the never-ending snowstorm of confetti, REO playing arguably one of their best performances ever (even according to them) with the DIRECTV lighting system and cameras bouncing around everywhere, Def Leppard lighting up the huge crowd over and over, Fogerty having the whole crowd singing along for the entire time he was on stage, or the night that 38 Special and Skynyrd played back to back. I'm sure there are many more that I am missing.

I have to agree about Sammy at 7pm. My favorite Moondance Jam moment ever...could be because I was one of the lucky 40! Even so, what a performance and what a crowd.

Also, it was mentioned early that true headliners sign early - I don't think so. KISS signed pretty late last year and I don't think there is any debating whether they were headliner-worthy.

me, too, one of the best times at Moondance in all my years there (and I got to meet my 8th grade boyfriend Rick Springfield!!) It was an honor to be a Waborita, even tho the risers scared the pooop outta me, it was a blast!

But, am I the only one who thinks JWG's 1st full paragraph is wacko? Like it may provide a clue?! But what? vertical, side by side, vertical... Or am I so ansty, I'm seeing clues when there are none to be seen?!

It is just referencing when we had to post the Moody Blues who were a 9:00 above the 11:00 band even though it wasn't in chronological order. Also when we had to post Boz side by side with Sammy, so in order to be consistant, we posted all of the 7pm acts side by side with the 9pm acts.

Notice: There were no clues in this post.
