I DO THINK SO, BUT POSSIBLY UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT, I.E. NORTHERN LIGHTS CASINO. YES THE JAM IS A HUGE PRODUCTION BUT IT ALSO BRINGS IN A TON OF MONEY TO THE WALKER COMMUNITY. I FORESEE THE COUNTRY PORTION GOING AWAY (REALLY NOT SURE WHY IT CAME ABOUT IN THE FIRST PLACE) ESPECIALLY WITH THE LARGEST COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL IN THE COUNTRY, NOT TO MENTION THE LONGEST CONTINUOUSLY RUN FESTIVAL PERIOD, JUST A WAYS AWAY IN DETROIT LAKES.

IT WILL CONTINUE, BUT WILL IT BE KATHY AND CLAN OR NEW MANAGEMENT? I SEE IT GOING TO NEW MANAGEMENT, BUT CONTINUING NONETHELESS.

I talked to someone who isn't in the know but knows some in the know, ya know?! and he said he heard Kathy wanted to take it to JAM 30!!! But after her Good Bye / Thank You speech (which I didn't see but heard about), I'm not so sure. My bet, she/they need to put Jam 20 in the books... see if they made the $$$ they needed to be OK, etc., kinda decomress from it all (and the Country Jam just a few weeks back), and then make a good decision on it all. I'm sure JWG will keep us in the know, too.

Go to the MOONDANCEJAM.COM site and join them on Twitter... you'll get breaking news as it arrives... I just got one where they posted the Video Tribute to Bill is now online... :D

I agree that it is a money maker for the community so I cannot see it going away. Now, what kind of incarnation it will be, remains to be seen. I agree Lisa, I think they need time to assess. All we can do is wait and see, we can also hope.

My guess is that she doesn't want to run it any more... and would very much like a local group to buy it, and take over the reigns. Imo, that would maintain the Jam as it is... a smooth running festival run by people who care about it's success, and have a personal stake in that success.

If someone from outside the area comes in and takes it over, I have my doubts about it's future. I foresee jacked up prices, divided up and priced up seating/standing areas... ie profit is everything mentality.

I have no idea whether is Moondance Jam is profitable or not. If it doesn't make big bucks, no outside buyer will want it. However, a local group may be content to run it as a break-even just for the extra dollars it brings in to Walker.

Not sure what I would think if NLC bought it out... still have a bad taste from the parking deal.

I don't ever foresee Northern Lights buying it. They can barely keep their own casino afloat. There's no way they could finance an operation like Moondance. The tribe in Shakopee would be a more likely investor if it ever came to that.

I saw the goodbye/thank you speech on stage and saw the goodbye/thank you speech in the saloon after hours and all I can say is who knows....It has been a good run and this year was loads of fun. Jam 30 does sound good though!

The Moondance Jam newspaper DID have July 12-14 listed as the dates for Moondance Jam 21.

Something I read about last year, before Bill passed, was a notation in a story about the tribal problems that were playing out in court up there. Somewhere inside the story it mentioned a multi-million dollar loan Bill got from the tribe. I'm not sure how this plays into anything, however I could just as easily see Kathy handing over the reigns to someone else, while remaining as the "figurehead". I hope so.

I would be shocked if they aren't making enough of a profit off the Jam to float the Country Jam the last five years. I won't be surprised if Country Jam goes away, but too much money is flowing through Walker for Moondance Jam, for it to just come to an end.

Were they selling advance tickets for next year's jam on Saturday?
