G-Fam has lost a member..

I am very sadly reporting that the G-Fam has lost a member. Paul Harden, also known as Pauly (or blueobsidian60) has passed away in his sleep. The autopsy showed that he suffered from an enlarged heart, which is a genetic issue in his family - his grandfather died from it, and his mother is still dealing with an enlarged heart.

Paul was my classic rock festival buddy for the past 12 years. Paul was my buddy... I'm going to miss him.

I'm still pretty shaken up.

Moondance Jam sure is going to be different for me this summer.

Paul and I had already bought tickets. I have all of the tickets here. I'm going to talk to Paul's Mom and let her know that I'm going to use Paul's ticket to give my wife and myself a vacation - something that we haven't done in years. A Moondance Jam vacation. In the past, Moondance Jam was just a guy's weekend away for myself and Paul. This summer, my wife and I will make it into a nice road trip. We'll drop the kids off at my parents place up in Northern Ontario (near Sault Ste Marie), and we'll make the trek from there to Walker MN.

I will be at Camp Howler at 1:11 on the Thursday to do a bug Cup's Up to Paul and the rest of our Moondance friends who are no longer able to party with us.

Oh my gosh, David, I am so sad to hear this news, I was looking so forward to seeing the both of you at Jam 20. I will miss his kind smile and his laugh. Such a sweet guy. I'm gonna miss my big hug from him, too. I'm very glad to hear you'll still be there, and I look forward to meeting your wife. Please relay our sympathies to his family.

Didn't know him, but sadness follows the loss of a fellow Jammer. Peace to the family and friends. Cups up to those no longer with us in flesh who follow us in spirit.

Have since found out I did meet Pauly, just didn't realize this was him. Very saddened. He was a nice kid.

I am at a loss for words. I am so sorry to hear of your friend's passing. He was a jovial giant, the kind of guy who made everyone around him happier just by his presence. I know I loved when you guys would come around, or we visited you. He will be missed, and, unfortunately, I will add yet another name to our champagne toast this year in honor of those who Jam with us in our hearts now.
