Wednesday night questions

Yikes! A great idea for getting people to check out the Jam but it scares me of the traffic we may see on Jam Wednesday! I hope the Jam brains have a plan in order... I'm sure they do... but I can't stand the idea of being in a traffic Jam. Please, happy thoughts, say it won't be so... (yes, I know, Bill emailed me, too)

I didn't know it was going to be open season for free on Wed. Puts a whole new spin on that day!

Kind of strange how we paid extra to get in that day and now people get to see the shows for free. Oh well.

I THINK THIS STATEMENT RIGHT HERE VALIDATES WHY THE BANDS SHOULD BE ON THE MAIN STAGE ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT. IT IS TAKEN DIRECTLY FROM THE SITE LINK:

It is FREE, so there is no excuse not to check out Moondance. Even if you are not planning on attending the main event, we want you to come out and experience a smaller version of what makes Jammers come back to Moondance year after year.

I KNOW IT SAYS SMALLER VERSION, BUT I DON'T THINK MANY OF US WOULD COME IF ALL THE CONCERTS WERE IN THE SALOON. WE COME FOR THE BANDS ON THE MAIN STAGE. SO LESSER BANDS ON THE MAIN STAGE WOULD BE A SMALLER VERSION OF WHAT WE COME FOR. IF THE REASON BEHIND HAVING WEDNESDAY FREE FOR EVERYONE IS TO GET MORE PEOPLE TO COME IN THE FUTURE THEN I THINK THE BEST WAY TO DO THAT IS TO PUT THE BANDS ON THE MAIN STAGE AND LET 'EM GIVE EVERYONE A GREAT SHOW. JUST A THOUGHT AND OBSERVATION.

Yeah, I had this feeling the 'free' was going to start a lot of controversy again... yeah, the main stage makes sense but it is what it is... hey, maybe they'll surprise us, ya never know... none the less, I'll be content OUT of the crowds of the Saloon. I'll be quite content Jammin on the grassy knoll watching the Jumbo tron in the beauty of a Walker night! And it is going to be nice out, I JUST KNOW! I'm more looking forward to the Skynyrd tribute band than the others...

don't forget, look for me somewhere on the hill... or maybe I'll mosey into the Saloon...

Yeah, we paid the same for 4 days last year as we are for 3 plus the pre-Jam this year... so it's easy to get befuddled over all that. But what irks me is the probability of the freakin lines coming in. I hope... pray... they have control over the situation.

All I know is we'll be heading to Jam Land early Jam Wednesday... CAN'T WAIT!!

Now I think about it, the pre-Jam should be in the Saloon, especially if it's free! They didn't do the regular pre-Jam parties this year like in the past (at least I didn't hear of any). But in the past, the pre-Jam parties weren't a tease of the full-fledged Jam (main stage events), they were in bars with bar bands playing. Seems to fit. I don't really know how many extras will come in... perhaps some from the Walker / Lakes area will come just to check out what the Jam's all about. Seems they are working the pre-Jam as both a big kick-off for Rockin 18, for us, AND as a promo / advertisement for the Jam...

... course I reserve the right to change my mind. Just trying to find peace in it all.
Can't wait to be there!

I don't know. Since it's probably gonna be massive throngs of people... I'm sold.... Hairball for the Main Stage!

And away we go...

I just don't like the controversy... it is what it is... maybe by pleading the case they'll change their minds, who knows, give it a try... why not. I just don't like the icky feelings that come out of some discussions. Must be me.

let the discussion continue!

I DON'T THINK THERE IS ANY CONTROVERSY AT ALL, LISA. JUST PEOPLE MAKING OBSERVATIONS. I DON'T THINK IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN EITHER, BUT AFTER READING THE POST PUT UP BY THE MOONDANCE PERSONNEL, IT JUST SEEMS TO MAKE SENSE TO GIVE THOSE COMING TO "GET A TASTE OF WHY WE COME BACK TO MOONDANCE EVERY YEAR" EXACTLY WHAT IT IS....A GREAT STAGE WITH GREAT MUSIC AND GREAT ATMOSPHERE AND GREAT PEOPLE. A CRAMPED SALOON STAGE JUST DOESN'T HAVE THE SAME MENTAL PICTURE OF A FANTASTIC TIME ;)

I KNOW DEACON AND I HAD SOME WORDS A WAYS BACK BUT THERE ISN'T ANY OF THAT NOW. DON'T WORRY....ALL IS GOOD IN JAM LAND ;)

Sure didn't mean to stir the pot... was just throwin' out some questions. :o ;) I'm good with whatever, just trying to understand the thought process. Here's another one. ;) What's the worst that would happen with Wed on the main stage??? I guess it would be if only a few hundred people show up, and it would look funny, and it would not be cost effective. What's the worst that would happen if a few thousand people show up??? A few thousand people would not get to see or hear much of the bands... and maybe a few thousand people would wonder why they came for Wed?? I understand that bands in the classic rock genre are getting more and more difficult to schedule, and I have no problem with going to three nights, if that makes it easier. I think the idea for having cover bands, or regional bands for a "Warmup Wednesday" is a good one.... all except for the Saloon Stage part... :D Almost done.... IF you're marketing "Warmup Wednesday" as a free look-see for folks who've never been.... why would you not have the big stage up and running??? Seriously, people see local and regional bands in bars and casinos all the time. The attraction of Moondance IS the big venue, with the big sound...

Lisa, I know you're the "defender of all things Moondance"... so I hope you don't think I'm knocking the Jam.... I'm not. No icky feelings here, OK? :D Ideas and improvements ONLY come from discussion... that's all. Personally, we would like to see Freebird and Hairball, but most likely won't if it's going to be in the Saloon. It's just too small, and I think I'd feel like a doofus sitting in my chair watching the big TV and the empty stage.
