Kix - Jam Saturday 5pm

My Take:
OK, I've literally seen 100's of concerts. My entire high school and early college was 80's rock concerts. How the heck have I never seen Kix? I missed Jam 25 in 2016 when Kix played. Somehow they have never been on a bill that I have ever gone to. I am super excited for their show, however. I loved Blow My Fuse back in the day and I hear they were great at the Jam in '16. What has always impressed me most about the band is that so many of them are original members. Four of the five current members have been in the band since the late 70's. There are very few (if any) bands that can say that today. Their mega-hit "Don't Close Your Eyes" will be as recognizable as most songs you will hear at this year's jam. It hit #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 all the way back in 1989. In my opinion it is one of the great power ballads from that genre. Everyone who only knows them from that song may not know that the rest of their music is much more in-your-face AC/DC-esque 80's metal. "Cold Blood," "Blow My Fuse," "Girl Money," and "Midnite Dynamite" will definitely play well on the Jam stage. They area also currently playing their entire Blow My Fuse album on tour so hopefully we will get treated to the entirety of that album. They are in my Top 5 of bands I'm most excited to see this year.

Kix were AWESOME at MDJ25.

What impressed me the most is that Steve Whiteman is still doing a great job of hitting the high notes in songs such as "Cold Shower". Some singers don't even attempt to hit those notes as the years pass, but Steve is still attempting and succeeding at performing the songs as they originally sounded years ago.

Kix sounded great last time, hit all the notes and Steve is a great frontman and knows how to fire up the crowd. I did the band write ups last time they were here and was amazed that he was Lzzy Hale's vocal coach...he obviously is good at coaching too!
Moondance Jam...the best 4, make that 7 days of my year!
