Bret Michaels - Jam Thursday closer 11pm

My Take
Surprisingly I have never seen Bret Michaels solo act before. I have seen Poison at least 10 times, including both times they played Moondance Jam (2006 and 2008), as well as just a few weeks ago in KC with Cheap Trick and Pop Evil. Poison seems to put on the same show every time I see them. This can be both good and bad. You always know you will be getting a great 80's rock show, but where is the spontaneity? I assume Bret mixes it up a bit for his solo performances. I know he does "Sweet Home Alabama" as well as Sublime's "What I Got" so that will be cool to see. "Ride the Wind" is my favorite Poison tune and he plays that as well. The problem is I can't find a setlist longer than 10 songs. I would hope that since he is closing night 1 of Moondance Jam, he can find a way to work a few more songs into the set. I'm curious if others have seen him and can give their opinion on this. That is just way too short a set. I just saw Jackson Browne play 3 hours and 26 songs a few days ago. I'm going to see Chicago and REO tomorrow night and apparently Chicago has a 29 song setlist and REO a 13 song setlist. One thing I know, Bret Michaels will bring the energy no matter how many songs he plays. That guy has an abundance of energy and always is appreciative of his fans. What I really would like to see is Ace Frehley join Bret onstage for Nothin' But a Good Time. They re-recorded that song along with Michael Anthony and Lil John. You can hear it here: Heck, Lita Ford has also joined him onstage before for that song so I would forego a longer setlist for all 3 of them onstage to close the night!

Setlist - June 16 in Chattanooga, Tennessee
Talk Dirty to Me -
Ride the Wind -
Sweet Home Alabama -
Your Mama Don't Dance -
What I Got -
Something to Believe In -
Unskinny Bop -
Every Rose Has Its Thorn -
Rock and Roll All Nite -
Nothin' But a Good Time -

Songs I Want to Hear:
Ride the Wind - my favorite Poison tune
What I Got - you gotta love Sublime
Nothin' But a Good Time - please have Ace and Lita join you for this song Bret!!!!

When he does his solo show he talks a bit too much for me. Both times I have seen him solo he interrupted every song to talk or remind you that he loves Minnesota. Songs are great and the energy is good, but too many interruptions. Hopefully he just sings this time. By the way, love him singing those other songs, does a great job on Sweet Home Alabama.
Moondance Jam...the best 4, make that 7 days of my year!

one of my friends joining us in Camp Howler this year loves him. I enjoy him and I love to hear the 80s songs. I hope he does stretch it out and keeps the chatter to a minimum.

The last time I saw him, he was great! The set list was excellent and the vocals stellar, but...he did tend to be a bit long winded between songs. Even though his stories and crowd interaction were enjoyable, it seemed as if he talked as much as he sang which I thought detracted from the continuity of the show. Of course that was in a more intimate setting so it may be different in a festival atmosphere. Either way it should be a great show!

I woke up this mornin' and the Sun was gone. Turned on some music to start my day. I lost myself in a familiar song...I closed my eyes and I slipped away.
I will choose freewill...
