Road Construction HWY 34 & 371

Postby The Jam Web Guy » Thu Jun 16, 2011 2:47 pm

Hey Country Jammers, there is some pretty heavy road construction with slow one lane traffic on HWY 34 from Park Rapids to Akeley. There is also scheduled road construction on 371 from Baxter to Nisswa (width restrictions - not sure what that means). Check our maps page (link below) for more info & links to the projects and Mn/DOT site where you can get the latest info for planning an alternate route to Moondance if needed.

We want to make sure everyone is in a great mood when they get here! :coolguitar:

Good alternate route from south (Twin Cities area):
Instead of heading N on 371 from HWY 10, stay on 10 west, then get off (right) near Randall, Mn and go north on county Hwy 1 (Dove Rd), through Pillager, left on 210, then right to get back on Cty Hwy 1. This will take you to Pine River, where you can get back on 371 north.
Google maps with Pillager or Randall as kewords can show you the route.
I use this route often because it has minimal traffic, has some nice scenery and some nice areas for testing the performance/speed of your ride. Just watch out for deer and county law enforcement.

This is close to the same distance/time as 371.

Is there a detour for 371 or do we have to find our own detour?

As of right now the state is shut down, so I'm guessing you are on your own until things start back up again. Here is a link to the PDF detailing the project: http://www.dot.state.mn.us/d3/hwy371baxter-nisswa/

Is there anyone from the Brainerd area that can give us a little more info?
