Band Possibilities

Postby Chris » Tue Jan 18, 2011 10:46 pm

I figure we better get a topic going on tours going out this summer. Anybody heard any good ones? Bands with openings or in the area?

Rod Stewart and Stevie Nicks are starting a tour together in March. Probably pretty pricey.

Peter Frampton has announced he is going to play all of Frampton Comes Alive (the best live album ever!) this summer for the 35th anniversary of it's release. This is a big one for me! If he doesn't come jamming I will go see this one somewhere else at least once, if not more. That album is in my top 5 all time - I would love to hear it in it's entirety.

Little River Band is open during the jam and in Wisconsin on the 21st.

Comstock is returning to Nebraska this year and has Slaughter, Great White, and The Guess Who a week before the jam.

Anyone here know who is rumored to play at the "other" fest this year?

The Cars are having a reunion and should be going out on tour. That would be awesome!

Def Leppard, Heart, and Kansas are rumored to be touring together. Jeb at Classicrockrevisited.com had this posted the other day.

Rush just put out dates through the first of June.

I'm sure there are a lot more. What have people heard?
The music brought me to Moondance Jam. The people bring me back.

Well Whitesnake are putting out a new album in March and will be touring Europe til the middle of June to promote it. Presumably the States will follow at some time!!

Deep Purple are touring 2011 - at the moment just dates in Feb show

Uriah Heep & Nazareth touring together, finishes Europe at the end of May

Journey finish their European tour beginning of July

Styx are back in the US in June after touring the UK with Journey, as are Foreigner

I'll leave all the research to my Cahootler Buds... you are so good at it. But I will add I like every single band you listed! Would LOVE to see LRB again ~ great memories of dancing in the sand to them at one of their Jam early shows... FRAMPTON would be spectacular ~ he was there at our 1st Jam ever (2000) and was awesome, just don't think I appreciated him like I should, or would... Speaking of those at our 1st Jam ever, bring back JOE WALSH!! pretty please?!?!

Would love an 80s rock night again... Beau would too ;) He mentioned we may have like 'generational nights' (my words, not his)... like good ol' Classic Rock, maybe an 80s night, a night of more newish bands ~ like last year...
it's a sign, Whitesnake "Still of the Night" just came on the radio!!

Great to see those touring, lots of great options!!! Can't wait.

Thank you Chris & Ian. You ROCK!!!!

got this info from a Howlereeniemoo:

Here’s some tour info….. No Judas Priest – in Europe. Styx…. A possibility, in Illinois on 7/2. Journey …. Nope, in Sweden 7/2. Those are all I could come up with that have dates. Have a Groovy Day!

A few suggestions from this end are:

Randy Bachman
Steve Miller Band
Doobie Brothers
Head East
America (A laid back set one afternoon would be great)
Gordon Lightfoot

Some bands on Chris's list such as Peter Frampton, Rod Stewart, Heart, Little River Band, Kansas would also be great to see.

Thanks, keep up the rockin good work - Jim

Here I go out on a rather small limb that I believe is already cracking, in high winds with nothing but an ugly tree below me and I may hit every branch on the way down.

Duran Duran (bring back some of my youth)
Van Morrison (perfect for the full moon night of Jam Friday)
Mod Rod Stewart (I may have hit every branch but I still think I'm sexy)
John Mellancamp (we deserve it)
Bob Seger (we deserve it)
Kiss (THOSE guys need to experience Moondance Hospitality)
Brian Setzer and the Stray Cats (some rockabilly would be good)
Motley Crue (I bet we could show them a thing or two about partying)
Big Country (since we are in a Big Country area)

There are so many more I would like to see and I bet you would too, saw Gordon Lightfoot a year or so ago and the sound was absolutely fantastic!

Out, Paddy
