Unfortunately there aren't many 'big' bands out there that play much more than an hour and a half. Bruce, Rush, Pearl Jam, off the top of my head. Heck Poison has headlined shows before and played 9 songs! Ridiculous.

What has ticked me off when a 9pm plays what I call an opening set. Whitesnake did this when they were here last with Judas Priest. At their normal shows that tour, Whitesnake was an opening band and played a short set. However, at Moondance they should have played a full set. They should have played 13+ songs and I think we got 9 or 10. The jam should negotiate full sets in those situations. Asia did that too when were at the jam with Yes. But they needed to get off, their set was awful.
The music brought me to Moondance Jam. The people bring me back.

get bored with a 4 hour set of The Boss? I'm not really sure that is possible. IF Springsteen were to play MDJ, the sellout would be a matter of hours, not days. Naturally, this is all speculation. I seriously doubt we'll get the chance to find out who's right on this one.

SwampDaWamp for 2013. Make it happen and you won't be disappointed, Fat Boy Can Jam.

If I recall correctly, Whitesnake dropped out of the tour a couple of weeks after the Moondance performance because David Coverdale was having voice issues. That may explain the short performance and extended guitar/drum solos.

I dunno..
I'm a fan of the groups that go on for hours, in my experience, that consists of:
Springsteen
Elton John
Billy Joel
Early Eagles
...etc...
But, it's kinda nice to have hour and a half sets by some of the best artists of all time.
More choices, time to do other sh.. stuff.
I vote "yes" either way.... :D :o

er, I think Mellencamp might also be a good choice for MDJ.

I think Mellencamp would be a great catch. Not only as a big performer, but I think I remember Bill Beiloh say a few years back that he was going to keep the Jam going until Mellencamp got signed to play. It was one of his biggest pursuits, would be a great way to honor his wishes, with hopefully more Jams to follow.

Mellencamp played the other fest and I thought that was the reason he couldn't play MDJ that year. Mellencamp would be a hoot and a half!
