Dougie, will you please take us on a walk-a-bout in GENERAL again? Without a guide I'm sure we'd never find out way out of there!!! It was SO MUCH FUN last year (though I'll miss the Ty's not being there to talk to each other on their walkie talkies--even though they were pretty much walking side by side)!!!

I would be honored to take you guys on a walkabout Pinkie! I always make my way back there at some point every year just to reminisce and see how things are going there. The sprawling campsites, tribal feel to it.

One week from today, finalize everything, get together with Miles and decide which car to pack. We're gonna be like clowns until we get there, no truck this year and 1 car. At least we don't have far to go. Two bar stools, perfect for strapping on the roof. It's all about exercising proper space management

I got an e-mail from WE Fest yesterday announcing that they have two headliners confirmed for 2013 - Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban - even though they are still 3 weeks away from THIS YEAR'S festival. There is a part of me that hopes Moondance Jam does something similar in order to help justify the changes they need to make. Using Jam 18 as a hypothetical example, if Kathy had the ability to stand on the main stage and announce that they had already booked Judas Priest and Sheryl Crow... I am willing to bet that people would be buying tickets early and often, and that it would help reel in some of those who are on the fence about buying early.

Just my thoughts, for whatever they are worth.

It's great to see most everyone in a happier and more festive mood....after all, the Jam is mere days away. Can you believe we will be rockin with the 'Kid' next Thursday night? Singin along with Fogarty and all those massive hits Friday night? Air guitaring 'Barracuda' with Heart Saturday night? Not to mention all the great bands in between!!

I hope that Kathy stands up this year and says that she's got Judas Priest signed for next year! (JP was my favourite performance that I've seen at MDJ)

That is a lot easier to do with country than rock for some reason. I spoke with Kathy earlier today and she's hoping to have at least one country artist set for next year by Jam time. Unfortunately & fortunately that probably won't help most of you.

We bought our 2012 tickets in August last year. It paid off when Kid Rock was announced in November/December. It caused several people I know to go ahead and buy their tickets in December. However, I can see it the other way too. If you're not a KR fan, you are saying to yourself, "that's one headliner down. I think I'll wait to see the other two. And I might as well wait for some other bands to announce as well". Without the ability to throw stupid money at 3 headliners like WE Fest does, the promoters have to wait until Christmas and early Spring to see how the Summer touring season is shaking out. I don't have a problem with it. It's the nature of the classic rock business.

My thought is that a killer lineup comes at a killer price and involves us footing the additional cost. Would everyone be willing to put up with a VIP area in the pit?, GA paying $50 more per year?, and VIP paying $100-$500 more? Not me. I like it the way that it is. Don't you?

As an example, an unfortunate downside to the Halfway Jam is their VIP area that covers the entire front of the stage, it is way too large, and it is embarrassingly empty for most performances. Even when occupied, it is full of corporate sponsors and others that didn't pay for their tickets. In other words, not usually big fans of that particular band. Let's not go down that road. I hope they can find new revenue sources without changing the awesome freedom this Jam has always had.
