Green Day? Too expensive..not a chance. But I'd love to eat my words.
BTW I took JWG's suggestion and emailed my concerns to Kathy. I received a very nice note back from her and I won't get into specifics but my takeaway is that we should all do everything we can to make this a great weekend and stand behind her as we are going nowhere but up from here. She is one awesome lady.

Green Day has always been on my wish list, but yeah, lotsa $$. Another comment regarding Tool. They've been a band that's had their record company over a barrel, instead of the other way around. They record an album and tour when THEY want. They tour less than most bands so they're not watered down, keeps demand high, shows have a lot of selling power, hot commodity. Because of this, I believe they'd always be well over what MDJ could spend and still have enough left for 3 days. I don't know what they cost, but it wouldn't surprise me if they approach the 3/4 mil mark. Just because they can.

I think this year may be a recharging, wound-licking year to rebuild for some more heavy hitters at #22. Last year saw the 20th. anniversary and a tribute to our fallen founder, so it had to be a helluva party but almost breaking the bank to achieve that. There's still plenty to enjoy this year, but to try to match or raise the bar from last year could've possibly killed it. Perspective and patience.

Cheers!
Doug

For my #3K, I again salute Dougie!! Perfect comments in para 2 especially, My Friend (I don't know a thing about Tool). It all makes sense when more of the whole picture is known (or even given a good ol educated guess on).

Jam XXI is gonna be fun fun.

PLUS THEY ARE HEADLINING SATURDAY NIGHT, JUNE 23 AT THE RIVERS EDGE FEST AT HARRIET ISLAND IN ST. PAUL SO YEAH, NOT HAPPENING. DAVE MATTHEWS BAND IS HEADLINING THE SUNDAY NIGHT OF THE FESTIVAL. SHOULD BE A GREAT WEEKEND THERE! AND YOU ARE RIGHT DOUG, HIGH, HIGH DEMAND FOR THESE GUYS SINCE THEY TOUR SO INFREQUENTLY. I THINK THIS IS THE ONLY 2012 NORTH AMERICAN DATE THEY HAVE SCHEDULED.

Tesla, Steve Miller, and Loverboy
are all in the area and open
