FYI; Cody Canda and the Departed are playing in Kansas July 21 with the 20th and 19th open, could be a possibility. And if you have seen a live show, they are not country; the recent cover album was something Cody and Jeremy had wanted to do when they were Ragweed, more to show their love and respect for the artists that influenced them.
Chris not sure if you saw them a few weeks back, but they were in the KC area;

I would say the best way to expain the music they do, is more in line with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, heart and soul and a hellva lot of Rock n Roll

I think some bands could play to both rock and country crowds, like Zac Brown Band, Skynyrd, Allman Brothers, Blackberry Smoke, and the no-longer Cross Canadian Ragweed. Other than that, though, and one side would probably be disappointed.

Yes, unfortunately. Cody Canada and Jeremy Plato formed Cody Canada & the Departed along with Seth James and a couple other guys. Right now, they have just done a cover album of obscure Oklahoma country songs. They are getting ready to do an album of originals. Musically, they are amazing, but it just doesn't have that Ragweed feel to it yet.

I happen to be a Tool fan, saw them at the Xcel a couple summers ago. Love the intelligence behind the music and their concepts, the themes, beautifully bizarre, Maynard is one of the coolest people in the business, very smart and talented group of guys. For the Jam though, they may be not be a fit and be a bank-breaker, especially at this point. Would love to see them again though.

Speaking of which -- like JeffG & Blonde & Pinkie (oh my) reminded -- what's a GOOD day for all of you for our INSIDE Meet n Greet?!?! I know not all of you camp, so... Usually we do it on Jam Thursday (we'll have our traditional G Fam Champagne Toast at Camp Howler at 2:22 on Jam Wed (or perhaps 1:11) cuz that day seemed to work best)...

For those new or don't know... we've done this for the past, oh I dunno, ten years?!?!? and we almost always get some of the Powers That Be to come on by to either or both (plus in the TIKI BAR Jam Wednesday), plus all of YOU! Nice to put faces to names and names to faces, right?!?!? Often we'll see Kathy, Renee (whom you talked to if you bought a ticket & called in), Willard, Jon, Bri, JWG, and their whole entourage!!!! *

Maybe Camp Howler at 1:11 and inside - likely at the Saloon - at 2:22?!??!?!?!?!??! Your input is valuable to me. Just some insight for now.... we'll make a real plan as it gets closer.

*I make no promises because their schedules are way busy but I know they'll try once the word gets out to them
