I think it would work!! Of course add at least one more day and then start before 3p on the main stage. Everyone would get a little of everything. I am sure Rockers and Cowboys/gals can play nice right? LOL. Check out the Buffalo Chip at Sturgis this year...Shinedown...Journey...Boston...Lynyrd Skynyrd but also.... Zac Brown Band...Eric Church and Sugarland. Plus more bands to come. (Not promoting Sturgis just showing a highly successful venue doing both)

Also to add that it wouldn't need to be a 50/50 split. Just enough Country merging to open the festival up to more ticket sales for one event while closing the actual Country festival.

Party on my friends!! Cups up!!

Don't think I would turn up for that one either Pinkie

Despite the discussions that have gone on, this is actually one of the more friendlier message boards I've been on over the years. Some of them can get really hairy to say the least.

It's not the few dozen who frequent the boards who will finally decide whether this is a good or bad line-up, but the many thousands who don't come here. I did a quick canvass of the MDJ facebook page, and there are splits there just as there are here. Just goes to show it's not just here where the discussions rage away.

While I understand those who would run the other direction whenever the words Country Music are used, I would hope that TPTB would at least look into more Southern Rock.

We had Blackberry Smoke a couple years back and that's just scratching the surface of the rockers they're churning out down there. One of my personal favorites is Swampdawamp. Got to see them on the cruise and they just plain rock the house.

As far as combining the two fests, I doubt that would work and not because of the music, but the fans. Country fans just don't seem to tolerate Rock fans or rock music and I would expect an awful lot of 'non-verbal discussions' in the camp grounds.
Don't blame me, I'm working on rule number 14. :hippypeace:

Wow! You surprised me there Chagen...

There were a few years (a long time ago) when I listened to more Country music. If my kids are in the car, I tend to listen to new stuff. My heart is stuck in the 80's & with the Big Hair Bands... BUT! I like to think I'm open to a lot of different music... everything from Classical to Alternative (just can only take some of it when I'm in the right mood for it, or in a limited capacity)!

Jeepers, here I thought WE found the solution!!! Although, I agree, don't know if Hicks (and I mean this in the nicest of ways... the "new" term used at my daughters HS) & Rockers could function at the same venue without "killing" one another...

Oh, I didn't take it as such! I just kind'a imagined you as liking many different music types I guess!

I hope we aren't fighting and you aren't going to delete yourself now!!! :P  KIDDING... I HAVE to laugh (though it is sad to see people go) otherwise it is just too serious & crazy (I'm not trying to belittle the people that were so upset they felt the need to leave)!!! Maybe the point is, it is easy to take things wrong when you can't see a person/hear their voice and perhaps this is how things can get so out of hand on here at times!!!

About all i dont care for is new country and bluegrass for some reason...but i NEVER say it sucks. Just not my cup of tea. I hate when people say music su ks cuz if someone enjoys it it doesnt 8-)

Pinkie, you go girl! You have just too much fun, and such a swell attitude. Love it. Proves we can have nice conversations, with mutual respect.

I'm not big on country either, tho some I can stomach, I want our Jam non-country... some southern-fried rock would be swell, tho.
