I lurk alot and post some....but one thing is for sure, there are people who are passionate about the whole Moondance experience and there are people who direct their passion towards the music aspect exclusively. Either way, the need to be respectful of others on here should be maintained. One way of thinking isn't the right way for everyone...but, thats why we live in America, right? Just as the freedom is there to attend MDJ or spend your money elsewhere. If you don't like it (or one aspect of it) and choose not to go, then don't go. If you do... lets party! It's simple.
Just as our dolloar is harder and harder to come by every year, imagine how it is for the MDJ folks to stretch the dollar to fit everyone's ideas of how the line-up should look? If money was no object for them, we would see the top grossing bands every year. They do the best with what they have and it shows year after year. I, along with many others, think that is pretty cool.
Can I share a story? I was in Forida this past March and attended a concert in Estero at an indoor arena there. It was a rockin-kick a$$ country concert, but since it had been 80das there I wore my 2010 Moondance Rock Jam tank. A guy and his gal walk by our row and he looks at my shirt and yells, "Moondance Jam!!! Walker, MN !!!" I said, "yeah, been there?" He and his gal gushed about how they had been there for MDRockJam a couple years ago while visiting rellies in the area. They go on to say what a great venue for outdoor rock music and what a shot in the arm it is for the Walker area as a whole. They both specifically said how friendly the people were and how it didn't matter who was playing, everybody was rocking and partying like one big family. I thought it was pretty cool how we run into people at the other end of the nation who have experienced once what we get to experience every year....and they loved every minute of the whole MDJ experience.
And, it's also pretty cool to alot of us how people like Lisa, JWG, Blonde, Pinkie, (just to name a few) are sincerely passionate about the whole Moondance experience, the MDJ image, it's creator and his wonderful family, and the respect that that people (in general) deserve but don't always get/give. Cups up!
