The Atomic Punks were formed by what is now the band Steel Panther. However, I just went to their site and it is four new guys. I'm sure they are talented, though, and you can't go wrong with DLR-era Van Halen, beer and sunshine!

I am still excited for Moondance and like to come on here and crack wise with others who are too. It hasnt been as enjoyable this year with some people's nasty accusations and rips on mdj and those who im sure work their a## off everyday for this place. Some of the negative posters arent even going to Moondance this year...Graffiti doesnt have to look like vandalism. Lets be thankful for what we have, which is a great time, and if someone has a beef above and beyond the norm direct that to Moondance in the proper place so the rest of is can go back to having fun.

People don't come to this board if they don't love MDJ, but some are rather mad at the moment. It's like your S.O. crashing your car and rolling it in to the river with your new golf clubs in the back after they hadn't paid the insurance premium this month. You'll forgive them eventually but you're not taking them out to dinner this weekend. ;)

This will be my 18th. MDJ. There's been off years here and there, and every following year it's rebounded nicely. I remember camping in General, the years it's been pretty packed. Then I think it was the year Def Leppard played. The camping was sparse, the whole east half was mostly open, especially after DL played Wednesday night. The rest of the lineup appeared weak in some eyes, like DL broke the bank and any chances of another band of the same caliber. The year after it was well rounded, people stayed the whole weekend spending their hard earned $$, and things rebounded a bit. Before that there were some doomsday mumblers. The rounded numbers. Some though there'd be no more after 10. Then 15. Then surely 20. Reminds me of the Y2K hype, or a cult planning a mass suicide to board the mothership.

We're still here, and we're gonna have a blast. Fun never fails. Regardless of the holes in the lineup or my own personal opinion about it, I MYSELF, have never had an off-year during the Jam. Thank you to those that keep things upbeat and those that choose to find something to appreciate.

Seems kind of goofy to have a Heart Tribute Band when Heart is playing.

I really enjoy reading these posts from time to time to find out what's happening since I live quite a distance. I don't add much to the board but am a little disappointed with some of the negativity here. Our group from the great state of Saskatchewan has grown by two this year. We now #4. I am very much looking forward to the lineup and the meeting of new friends. This is only my second year but we are hoping for a lot more. I think we should be thankful for everything MDJ stands for and be happy we have an opportunity to be there. I myself try to bring more rockers with me to see something as unique as this go on as long as it has. It says more about the people I think than about the music. I have seen other venues crash and burn, then start again. Its not quite the same. Don't get me wrong, I love good music but I will enjoy whomever is on the stage. Like George used to say "Lets just party on Dudes" :devdogblue:

I know Leni from Bad Animals and they are going to change their set up a bit this year. Their set won't be just a tribute to Heart, they will have other cover songs in there as well. If you have seen them, you know they are fantastic musicians and will put on a great show. They rocked the mainstage and their acoustic show in the Lazy Moon last year was also awesome.

They are also huge supporters of Moondance Jam. They have played the jam for many years now, starting with a 2pm slot in the saloon years ago that I was lucky enough to catch with Ian. Last year they played the main stage and were great.

I think Transit Authority is going to make a similar ascent over the next few years from an early spot in the saloon to a mainstage appearance on Tribute night. They sounded great in the saloon - what a sound!
The music brought me to Moondance Jam. The people bring me back.

I agree Chris, they sounded great(what I heard) in the saloon last year. Love horn sections!

I chatted a bit with Leni recently and it sounds like their set is going to consist of songs that Heart has covered. I thought that was a pretty cool idea. 8-)

Hello to all of my Fellow Jammers!!

Happy Belated Birthday Lisa!

Wow!! miss one day of lurking and spend over an hour reading a lot of comments from upset and/or grumpy folks.

You know, I make Moondance my vacation and this is trip #11 for me. I have never been disappointed, maybe I don't get all the bands that I want (hell I never get everything I want) but the people, the fun, the shenanigans, the whole feeling is Moondance, it's Magic.

If you don't care to come then don't, chances are good the I would have said "Happy Moondance" to you on opening day if I saw you.

Out, Paddy
If you can't (or wont) be good then be good at it.
