I don't know if they read this or not. But the Comments link goes right to The Powers That Be.

I'm well aware if the function of this page. Just thought my suggestion could alleviate some of negativity. Such a drag to constantly read such nasty, negative stuff all the time.

But we can't all be cheerleaders either. I get that. Carry on. Bash away, if that's what makes you feel better. I mean, really.

Based on the feedback that everyone liked where we camped, I pushed to get enough commitments so we could keep our campsites. We bought our tickets way back in September based in part on faith that MDJ would deliver their usual, consistent lineup with maybe a few highlights. Frankly, I'm disappointed. Calling it as I see it: Kid Rock and John Fogerty are legitimate closers, and Heart is also a reasonable headliner for a 3-night event. I don't think ANY of the 9pm bands are deserving of that time slot for this particular festival, and that's probably why my excitement for this year is somewhere close to the toilet. The 9pm slot features a couple of 'heard one, you've heard them all' 93X bands, and a classic rock band band who is always entertaining, but has played at 5pm in the past. (Sorry if I offended anyone with this. It's my opinion and I'm entitled to it, though I realize that I didn't necessarily have to share it.)

At the core, I DO feel a degree of responsibility for the lineup as it relates to my group. Each time I hear someone complain about the bands that have been signed, I can't help but take it personally. I have no control over who performs there, but I AM the one who convinced everyone to buy tickets with the lineup sight-unseen; and each year I invest a lot of time and energy into making the weekend fun for all. Will I suggest buying tickets for Jam 22 this September? Heck, no!! Fool me once, shame on you... Could this be my last Jam? It could. I really get the sense that those who book this event want to move it toward current rock, which I simply don't identify with as much.

For the record, this is no overture for the R-fest. I think their lineup stinks too.
DITTO! We also buy right away and recruit our friends, no more up front money from us, if we come back after this year.

I'm looking forward to this Jam, just as I have the others in the past. Do I like all the bands? I don't know...I haven't seen some of them. Others, I have seen and they're awesome! Even if there are only 9 national acts this year, it comes to $19.44/act (if you buy your tickets now). Where can you see that much entertainment for that low of a price, in Northern Minnesota? Some of us bought our tickets a long time ago, and we even paid less! Go see Kid Rock at Mystic Lake on July 15th (just announced yesterday). Tickets are $77 and there's no smoking or alcohol allowed!! Or, book a flight to go see John Fogerty in Washington (sorry, nothing closer). You'll be paying $84 for that ticket. That's just 2 acts. I could keep looking up prices, but I think you get the idea. Moondance is a bargain. We get up close for a General Admission ticket (I bet you don't get that at the other festivals).

Just my .02

Too many new pages to read through... something BIG must have happened...

Does it mean we aren't getting a new Vikings stadium?

I have seen a few mentions on here about 9 national acts. Is there a basis for that comment? Did I miss something?

Just got through talking with our core group and they aren't happy, the new guys we got to come are POed at me for telling them how good MDJ is and I can't do a thing about it. Bottom line is nobody is buying tickets early they all feel cheated.

Gee, I have to go to MDJ for 4 days and they don't have all the bands I want...waa waa. From the first tribute band on Wednesday(by the way I believe Comfortably Pink is the Floyd cover band, whoever asked earlier) to Heart on Saturday I will enjoy being at Moondance and listening to the music. Two years ago people were complaining about Buckcherry, all I can say is good thing Sammy followed them because nobody else would have been able to keep up. Never heard of Candlebox or Cracker before last year, enjoyed them both. The Smithereens 2 years ago were a highlight, when they broke into The Who it was great. You never know what you will get, but we will enjoy it. Couple of good newer bands(Hinder, Three Days Grace), some great classic rock(Nightranger, GFR, Don Felder), and then end it with Kid Rock(supposed to be great live), rock and roll Hall of Famer John Fogerty, and Heart. If you only want certain bands then start your own fest and see how that goes. Complain all you want, won't change anything and you will still have fun.(even if you try not to)
