I have to say this, JWG you can delete but I will say this, I am not a fair weather MDJ fan, and it Pi$$es me off that somebody who is new to the board would imply that.

I was just going to comment (though I see Steven already did), but I took this just as a statement... he didn't say you, or anyone, specifically Tuttle! Also, remember that it may appear someone is new to the Board because of a small number of posts... but it may be they have been lurking for years!!! Now I'm going to kick myself because I shouldn't even get involved in this stuff!!!

KOOL ARTICLE: This is where the music comes into play......
Night Ranger frontman Jack Blades goes solo on his latest album, “Rock N’ Roll Ride,” and says the title is a great way to describe his crazy career.

“It sort of chronicles my 30 years on this crazy journey, this musical adventure that I’ve been on," he told Fox411.com. “It shows all my influences… whether it’s the Beatles, British metal, British rock, blues, Crosby Stills and Nash.”

The first single off the new collection, “Back in the Game,” was the inspiration for a special music video which had its exclusive worldwide premiere on Hannity.com. Blades says the video carries a patriotic message, and he dedicated it to our servicemen and women throughout the world.

The album features special guests including his Night Ranger band mates Brad Gillis, Kelly Keagy, Joel Hoekstra, and Eric Levy. He’ll reunite with them on the road with both Night Ranger and solo shows in store this year. And don't worry, “Sister Christian” will be on the set list!

“How can you get bored when you look out at the audience and… just grins across their face, their eyes, happy, singing 'Motoring,' how can you not get into that?” he asks. “It’s been 30 years we’ve been doing this, and every night I get up there and play and it’s like my first night.”

Night Ranger's music is reaching a whole new audience by being featured in Broadway's “Rock of Ages,” which is on its way soon to a movie theater near you.

“From this humble beginning to Tom Cruise and Alec Baldwin on the big screen, I’m just so excited for the 'Rock of Ages' people," Blades said. "I’m so excited our music has become that whole sort of era of music, all through the early 80s, has gotten into the collective consciousness of society. And people just love singing along to those songs!”

For me, I am the organizer of a fairly large group that camps in South Reserved. There are 16 of us going this year. I believe we had 22 last year. Based on the feedback that everyone liked where we camped, I pushed to get enough commitments so we could keep our campsites. We bought our tickets way back in September based in part on faith that MDJ would deliver their usual, consistent lineup with maybe a few highlights. Frankly, I'm disappointed. Calling it as I see it: Kid Rock and John Fogerty are legitimate closers, and Heart is also a reasonable headliner for a 3-night event. I don't think ANY of the 9pm bands are deserving of that time slot for this particular festival, and that's probably why my excitement for this year is somewhere close to the toilet. The 9pm slot features a couple of 'heard one, you've heard them all' 93X bands, and a classic rock band band who is always entertaining, but has played at 5pm in the past. (Sorry if I offended anyone with this. It's my opinion and I'm entitled to it, though I realize that I didn't necessarily have to share it.)

At the core, I DO feel a degree of responsibility for the lineup as it relates to my group. Each time I hear someone complain about the bands that have been signed, I can't help but take it personally. I have no control over who performs there, but I AM the one who convinced everyone to buy tickets with the lineup sight-unseen; and each year I invest a lot of time and energy into making the weekend fun for all. Will I suggest buying tickets for Jam 22 this September? Heck, no!! Fool me once, shame on you... Could this be my last Jam? It could. I really get the sense that those who book this event want to move it toward current rock, which I simply don't identify with as much.

For the record, this is no overture for the R-fest. I think their lineup stinks too.

Every year we see similar comments. Some people don't like the lineup because there are too many "new" artists. Some people don't like the lineup because they aren't "big" enough names. I just want to say that everyone who lives within reasonable driving distance of Moondance should appreciate the event for what it is - a fantastic place to get together with people who you don't see very often, to drink and to rock out to some bands for an extremely reasonable price that delivers great value. There is nothing like Moondance close to where I live, and I am extremely envious of people who have the option of attending every year.

Last year I really enjoyed 38 Special, Eddie Money, Burton Cummings - all bands that played in afternoon time slots. I absolutely enjoyed their performances. Biggest disappointment for me last year was KISS. Their show just seemed too choreographed, and I am of the opinion that their show was all about the fireworks/special effects and not the music. We all have different opinions of the lineups. Mine likely is a direct contradiction to others.

Enjoy the festival. Anyone who lives close to Moondance - be thankful that it is so close. I wish that Moondance was closer to where I live so that I could attend every year, no matter who is on the stage. There is just something magical about this event.

Lisa, I understand what you are saying. However, this Message Board serves two functions: we view it as a vehicle that allows Jammers to communicate with each other, BUT IT ALSO gives the Powers That Be an opportunity to get nearly instantaneous feedback on their event. Moondance Jam is THEIR business and THEIR livelihood. I'm just a customer. Does their new Booking Agent stop in here once in a while and check out the feedback? Does Kathy? I don't know. But they certainly have the ability to check the temperature in the room anytime they want with just a few keystrokes.

HalfPast6... you bring up a good point in that this site is an excellent resource for the decision makers... I also like to hear other people's thoughts and it is awesome when good knowledge about music is shared (cuz there is a ton I don't know), but!... and I've said this before... it is fine that we can all agree to disagree, the key is just wording things in a respectful manner, we all know we are allowed our own opinions, we just have to be careful not to bash other Jammers views because we are overriding with our own!
