I do indeed know where "The Shop" is at. Got there last night a bit after 8:00 pm. Was told the place was running late. The guys were just doing a quick sound check. They played Pretty Tied Up which I thought was pretty darn good. Shortly after that the packed up their stuff. I thought it was odd. Then these other guys take the stage. My first thought was "who the heck are these guys"? Turns out that "these guys" were the opening band Go Steve Jones. The guys before that doing sound check were the Dizzy Reed guys.

Go Steve Jones played some good music. Lots of covers from The Vapors, Cracker, Outfield, Cars and a few of their own. I'm guessing they started around 9pm and played until 11pm. They seemed to play on forever. They even had to turn over their setlist on stage to finish their show. I was tempted to steal their set lists just so Dizzy Reed could start.

Dizzy Reed started around 11pm and finished at 1:00 AM. . My setlist here shows he played about 17 songs. 6 or so were from GNR. 2 were from the Rolling Stones. He did a few of his own too. His guitarist (who looked a bit like Slash) used toplay in Armored Saint. He did a song Sin City. The biggest song he did was Sweet Child o'Mine. I snapped some quick pictures with my camera showing "change the batteries" all night. Recorded some just to see if my camera would do it before I put it away. Another guy was recording some of the show but Dizzy didn't like it and asked him to stop. After I heard that I tried to be respectful.

I was right up front for the show. The place had maybe 50 people in it. I could have played Dizzy's keyboard I was that close. He plays Big D's in Grand Forks tonight. That will be a HUGE place copmpared to The Shop. Wpould love to have Paisty Jenny play there!!

Just a couple of things, and I don't like to complain much but people on these boards get me riled up. First off MDJ has had a bunch of great signings and I can't wait for July! Now to those who think Heart and Grand Funk Railroad are no better than 3 or 5 or even 7 o'clock bands, check your history. Heart was and is one of the best classic rock acts out there and deserve the respect they get. Grand Funk Railroad sold out Shea Stadium faster than the Beatles back in '68, so whether you like them or not, they are both great classic rock acts and deserve a little more respect than some are giving them. I too hope that GFR is the 5 and Heart the 9 band with another headliner yet to come, but if that doesn't happen it will still be a great Saturday and I for one will completely enjoy the evening. No problem with people not liking them, but some of the comments get a little ridiculous.

Thanks for letting me vent and keep on rocking jammers! :headbanger:

Quick question...Where were they (GFR)scheduled last time? Answer 5PM. The only reason that they played at 7 was that Thin Lizzy was a no show. BTW '68?

I was typing and doing something else and screwed up the year, sorry it was '71. Sentiment is still the same.

Pretty exciting. Just got tickets for both Bruce Hornsby and David Gray at the Minnesota Zoo. (Two separate shows - they are not touring together.)

Well written & well thought out post, I feel the same way. Well, except I don't get what the big deal with timeslots, except for maybe the evening headliner. I also don't think I have much say in if they are a 3 o'clock band or a 5 o'clock band. I figure if ya really like or love a band you'll be there to see them no matter what time they play. But, maybe that's just me :D
