I can so picture your visit to the bank Ty :D I remember that year you posted as well. My faves were Joan Jett, Skynyrd, and 38 Special. Saturday night was okay. ELO II was different than what I expected. The only instrument I saw on stage that resembled anything classical was the electric violin. I don't remember them playing Strange Magic or Turn To Stone either, and, probably for the lack of the orchestral instruments needed to pull it off accurately, I dunno. Cheap Trick started slow, but amped it up as the night went on. Robin Zander looked like he had been tipping a few beforehand. I'm sure I was pie-eyed and I could even tell, which only means he was probably in worse shape than I was. Their second appearance at MDJ was much more energetic and focused, I thought. It was a good year though overall. That was when the mud pit back in general was roarin' in full force. I got so dirty that year, ended up throwing away my socks and having to wash my jeans twice. Good times, great memories.

Friday night, indulging in my weekly 6-pack. Tonight, Red Hook Long Hammer IPA. My in-house brewery has been dormant for a short while. Next batch will either be a peated Scotch ale, dry-hopped English pale ale, or a summer wheat swiller with some citrusy hops added at the end of the boil to closely emulate the addition of orange peel....so many ideas. But there is an order for some cream ale by Jam time, so there's one on the schedule ;) It'll pick up again soon. I just need to behave myself in the next 4-5 weeks before the big race. Hoping for under 4 hours again at the Fargo Marathon. If I don't injure myself I think it shouldn't be an issue. Logged 20 the other day with just general soreness. I will improve upon last year I'm sure. How much, not sure. If I make it with the usual week's recovery I'll likely do the Twin Cities in October. Was my plan last year. Didn't quite come to fruition  Was boogyin' down on the dance floor that night in Fargo but 2 days later was navigating stairs sideways hopping on one leg. Couldn't run again at all for 6 weeks. The injured calf looks visually and feels different from the other, still, and probably always will. Asymmetrical, but after it healed I had a trainer at a gym who had 9 marathons under her belt ask, "Does it get worse or improve the longer you run on it?" I said "it gets better". She said, "keep going". Alrighty then.

Running is what helped me to discover Three Days Grace. I would listen to 93X when I worked in St. Paul for 6 months. Always looking for something that pumps me up so I can put it on my ipod. I knew of their songs, but didn't know at the time who performed them. I ended up writing on scratch paper the names of these songs and listening to who they were by, and it was like "Three Days Grace? Sure I've heard of them." And then it was them again. And again. And again. I had no idea that they were responsible for these half-dozen song titles out of fifteen I had listed. So, I was drawn in and became a fan.

Cheers!
Doug
