The numbers were down all around, numerous music festivals, except for that unspeakable goat-ropin' 'THEY-FEST' in DL. It was almost a touch of a perfect storm scenario for MDJ this year....weather, proximity to the 4th. of July, and economy putting a damper on not only people who can afford to come, but the availability and cost of bands as well. I understand Bill had 3 Doors Down and Rush signed for a while going into Sizzlin' 17, but couldn't hang onto them, something about it being 'classic' or something. Hypothetically, had they been signed and kept, along with Billy Idol staying in the states a little longer to have played at MDJ...you gotta admit, the lineup would have been significantly better and the numbers would probably not have dropped off much, if at all. Times are a bit tough. I don't point my fingers at anyone that has control. Bill already has at least 4 bids out for next year. They put a lot of time and effort in putting together as best a lineup as they can. But sometimes, things just seem to work against the effort. Hats off to Bill and Kathy, once again, and good luck.
Cheers!
