Apparently reclaiming your campsite comes with stipulations, if you are in south reserved some of the sites are being converted to XL campsites because they say they dont have enough XL sites which is a higher fee. You will be told this when you order your camping. My complaint is alot of people wont reclaim there site because of the fee and they really dont need a bigger site. Are camper is 19 feet. We are on the tree line now and if we could get another tree line site then great otherwise might have to just stay put. (we love the tree line) But we still feel the extra 35 dollars is not fair when where reclaiming a site that we have had for 6 years with mostly the same neighbors not knowing where they will end up. Another complaint is if this is the case then when you look at the maps it should reflect this. We love moondance and will always attend but things like this just tend to make people mad when you find out at the last second.

I hear your frustration and looked into this. From what I found out, it was a situation where this block has had XL sized sites for the last 6 years. The other option was to put another row (or two - can't remember for sure) of regular sized reserved campsites into that block. I am in the process of updating the map to reflect this. I am sorry, I know that doesn't solve your problem, but I will try to get the correct info on the maps. I'm not positive, but I think one of the main issues is that every year we get more and more 30+ foot RVs and campers. With reserved camping being packed every year, space is at a priemium so it was either more smaller sites or make the area reflect what it is. Every year there are areas in that campgrounds that are improved and remarked to be more efficient, avoid ditches and drainage areas, add electricity, etc. We try to have those on our maps ASAP, sorry that didn't happen this time.

You might want to check out SR225 we paid for XL and our site was 6 feet shorter(yes we measured), and before everyone slams me, it doesnt benefit me in anyway. We didn't reserve our spots this year. All 5 campers, decided last year was enough.

After all these years I finally made it to my first Moondance Jam (Raising four kids and life's priorities just prevented it from happening sooner). My girlfriend and I had a fantastic time! We have already made the decision to go back next year and we both have our vacations approved. That said, we really liked our campsite. We would love to have it again next year. I inquired about reserving it through the "Reclaim Your Campsite & Early Bird Ticket" program. Well, I discovered the fine people at Moondance want the total purchase price for both camping and tickets on or before the 15th of September? Use my $500 - $700 for a year before the concert venue? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize this is not a very good economic deal. I don't have a problem laying out a few hundred bucks as a down payment but the entire amount a year in advance? Sorry, we will take our chances on getting our same campsite. If not, we will just be at a different site. I seriously think you fine people at Moondance should re-look at the "Reclaim Your Campsite" program and offer an opportunity to make a "Down Payment" with balance due say...60 - 90 days prior to the venue. I would bet you would have substantially larger participation in the program. Our two cents. Looking forward to next year!

Thanks for the input, Jack. I will pass your idea along. We do have a minimum of two tickets required for each campsite, so that may be difficult to enforce. (Or they would have to change their system at the least). Your best bet with the way things are now is to get the minimum number of tickets per campsites you need and then purchase your additional tickets later. Although your best deal on tickets is before the first couple ticket cutoff dates.

We ordered our tickets back in July. Grand total for 2 people to attend general admisison and camp with reserved camping was $405 + tax and shipping. (2 tickets @ $90, $225 for camping) Same price today for those 2 tickets and camping is $520 + tax and shipping. $115 savings already. I think that it is a good economic deal to buy in advance. Sure, they've got the money for a year, but there is great comfort in knowing that our vacation next year is paid in advance... We just need to save up for beer and gas money now.. (Maybe some money for food too..) :)

We paid the credit card bill in full (I had been saving up for Moondance for many months..). $405 even at 20% credit card interest turns out to be roughly $486 a year from now. Paying in advance is the way to get a deal...

Sorry.. I'm just a bid of a money nerd - I've been listening to Dave Ramsey on the radio too long and love to get into savings discussions :)

Only 301 days until we Jam at the Pre-Jam Party!!!

I would LOVE to be able to do a payment plan thru MDJ also, but figure they are kind of doing that by giving us an early-bird deal (though I do understand the incentive here to get people to commit). I also have sort of figured Moondance needs money to get things rolling (I'm sure bands require deposits/or money paid in full, staff needs to be paid, Shirt Shack needs to start placing orders, property taxes and a trillion other details that are needed to make an event of this size take place). Like Davage said, it is nice to have my trip paid for in advance... then I have more to spend when Jam-time arrives!!!
