I don't like it.

I just looked at the map, and I don't see what you mean about designated areas. Will there be "rows" set up where we have to set our chairs? I think a more detailed explanation is in order. If this was in the works, it should've been announced a long time ago, not a few weeks before the Jam.

I think this is a bad decision. You already have a bunch of pissed off people, this will just make it worse.

Boy things just keep getting better don't they. Not sure if we'll be back next year. It's really Shotty to get this information 3 weeks before the jam. Starting to feel nickel and dimed

I don't think it's fair to compare last year to this year. Last year had KISS, thus the huge crowd. You won't have that crowd this year. I've read the "lawn chair policy" guidelines a few times and I just don't get it.
Lawn Chair Seating

You may bring lawn chairs. The lawn chair seating area is sectioned off. (sectioned off? with what? is there only one way in and one way out? If people can roam thru this area, how is it sectioned off?) Fees for the lawn chair seating area are $10/chair for the day or $20/chair for the entire weekend (Wednesday's Pre Jam Party included) (so, we'll get a piece of paper we'll have to show that we've paid so we don't busted by the lawnchair police? Can we pay for the whole weekend in advance, when we show up for the pre-jam party). New Moondance lawn chairs will also be available for $50 with lawn chair seating included for the entire weekend. (does this mean that the Moondance chairs will have a set spot and stay in that same spot the entire weekend? Can you keep the chair at the end of the weekend?)

Seating is still on a daily first-come-first-served basis. Chairs must be taken with you nightly after the show. The lawn chair seating area is cleared nightly. There will be an organized grid with a comfortable amount of space for lawn chairs to be placed. (again, what are you talking about? I need to see a more detailed description, this means nothing to me. Are you going to spray paint little squares on the ground where we can set our chairs?) There is also new beer tent at the front of house for added convenience. This also allows roaming vendors to service fans seated fans in the lawn chair seating area. All general admission fans will be able to stroll through the lawn chair seating area even if they do not have a chair and will be able to sit on the hillside where there are no chairs. (again, how will they get into the "sectioned off" area? If we don't bring chairs, we can sit in this area for free?)[See Maps]

I'm your biggest fan...I love the Jam. I've been to both Jams ever since I retired from the Navy and moved back to Walker. But, this policy is terrible.

Moondance has had to organize the lawn chair seating area into a grid to maximize the concert area. Don't worry, it will be comfortable (not "jammered" sardines). The down side for fans is that there will be a $20/weekend or $10/day chair fee. The up side is that vendors will be able to roam the area and a beer tent will be added behind the sound and light deck for an added convenience. Moondance chairs will also be available for $50 (weekend lawn chair seating included). It will NOT be a roped off area and GA can make their way through the area and if someone wants to sit on the hillside where there are no chairs, no problem.

Honestly, this is a two-fold solution to two problems.
#1 is space in the concert area. Last year we saw the most we have ever seen out there and all sight lines were maxed out. Organizing the chair rows will allow for more people in the concert area and for a better flow of traffic around the grounds.
#2 is obviously added revenue. Moondance has been providing festival seating for 20 years and really wants to continue with that because we know that is what most jammers want and makes us unique. Unfortunately, for Moondance to keep getting big acts and to grow and keep getting big acts, some things have to give because costs keep going up. Just look at all of the other festivals around the area and country. They have huge dollar VIP up front, then a gold, silver, titanium, platinum (pick a metal - I prefer heavy), reserved lawn level 1, etc. etc. So two things that have to go are free showers and free lawn chair seating. I know there will be some people that are bummed out about this, but it will be a huge help in helping the Jam grow.

Did Country Jam also have this "NEW" Lawn Chair Policy, or are we the lucky ones to have this new extra added fee? Talk about getting blood out of a turnip. Maybe it is possible?
How many more nickels do they think, they can squeeze out of us. And to announce this with the Jam being less than 1 month away is simply wrong. Lets hope it is not hot and humid , as how many people are going to be willing to now have to pay for a shower. Deorderant people lots of deorderant. Please, "lol".

Have to agree with the other posters on here and many who don't post but attend the Jam; Everything has increased in price, Tickets, Camping, Beer, add to that -Showers and fees for Lawn Chair Seating section.
Is the fire wood and potable water also going up??
I love the Jam, but announcments like this ( added fees & prices), + the poor timing is not going to make many jammers too happy. This can't help with regards to those who are still deciding as whether to attend the Jam this year or not. Again to anounce this now, this late in the game, is a big marketing blunder, ( just my opinion).

Wow. I wasn't expecting that sort of announcement just 3 weeks away from the Jam. Charging for lawn chair seating.

Does Moondance really want to become more like the "other" fest?

:like: - exactly..... isn't that what made moondance what it is ? it was the little perks that keeps jammers loyal.

YIKES. THIS IS BAD. IT DOESN'T AFFECT ME AT ALL CUZ A.) WE STAY OFF SITE AND B.) WHEN I AM AT THE JAM I AM ALWAYS IN THE PEA GRAVEL.

THAT BEING SAID, I WILL REITERATE WHAT EVERYONE ELSE HAS SAID: POOR TIMING. IN FACT, HAD I NOT SEEN THIS ON THE G-PAGE I WOULD HAVE HAD NO IDEA THIS WAS HAPPENING. FUNNY HOW THERE WAS NO MENTION OF IT. ANYWHERE. EVER. AND NOW HERE IT IS LESS THAN THREE WEEKS BEFORE THE JAM AND I AGREE, SUPER CONFUSING TO BOOT.

THE NATIVES WERE ALREADY RESTLESS/PEEVED WITH TRIBUTE BANDS MAKING THEIR WAY TO THE MAIN STAGE, NOT ONLY AT 3 BUT AT 5 AS WELL. I CAN'T REMEMBER THERE EVER BEING TRIBUTE BANDS IN THE FIVE SPOT (UNLESS SOMEONE BAILED LAST MINUTE). THIS IS NOT A GOOD WAY TO START BUILDING TOWARD NEXT YEAR. I THINK A LOT OF PEOPLE HAD GOTTEN OVER THE FRUSTRATION OF WHAT MANY FEEL IS A LACKLUSTER LINEUP, BUT THOSE FEELINGS HAVE SPRUNG UP AGAIN DUE TO THIS POORLY TIMED NEWS.

I THINK THIS LINE FROM STEP BROTHERS SUMS IT UP BEST TO HOW A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE FEELING:

"I'VE ALREADY GOT A BELLY FULL OF WHITE DOG $#IT, AND NOW YOU DROP THIS ON ME??????"
