The Bad Animals have been touring since the fall of 2003 paying tribute to the music of Heart. On stage, Joelle Negard takes on the guitars and vocals of Nancy Wilson while Bobby Sue Jones plays the part of Ann Wilson. Others are founding member Leni DiMancari on Guitars and vocals as well as Aaron Carlson on bass, a returning Lewis Sego on Keyboards, and drummer Tim Davis. The members of the band have been members of various bands that have played the Minneapolis club circuit. The band will spend all summer touring on what is billed as “Brigade 2010” as they recreate Heart’s Brigade tour from 1989. On a regular show of their tour this year fans will see a 26 song set and a recreation of the wardrobe and hairstyle of Heart from that era. Because their set will be shorter at the jam than a regular club date, they will change their setlist a bit and play, in DiMancari’s words, “Heart’s greatest hits front to back.” They will be making their 4th straight appearance at Moondance Jam. They played a couple of early slots in the Saloon their first year and closed the saloon one night at Jam 17. Last year they played two sets on what was “Rock” Friday. This year they will be playing the 6:15pm slot in the Saloon on Saturday, July 17.

I have seen The Bad Animals every time they have played the jam and I am excited to see them again this year. I have always been very impressed with their performance as they not only play the music of Heart very well but also look the part as well. I remember seeing them very early in the day their first year (with Ian!) and I couldn't believe they were playing so early. That appearance was so successful it lead to a closing spot in the saloon the following year and two slots last year. While they are not closing a night this year I talked to Leni DiMancari from the band and he is excited to be playing the jam for the 4th time and is excited to play the same night as Lynyrd Skynyrd. He said the current line-up has been together 2 years now and is their best yet. I have spoken with band members each year and they are always appreciative of being able to play Moondance Jam. I am hoping there is some way that the band can get another slot in the saloon this year, especially since the headliners Arch Allies have 3 slots that night. The Bad Animals deserve to have two slots! With Heart playing the jam in 2006 and The Bad Animals for the fourth year this will be the fifth straight year fans of Heart will be able to hear their music at Moondance Jam.
